SMS

Location: Activities SMS

The SMS Records page provides a detailed log of all SMS and MMS activity associated with your account. It allows you to monitor sent and received messages, delivery status, message content, costs, and other related information. This page also includes summary statistics, advanced filtering, and export options for reporting and troubleshooting.


Summary Dashboard

At the top of the page, a summary panel provides a quick overview of SMS activity for the selected date range.

Field
Description

Total Number of SMS

Total number of SMS records during the selected period.

Total SMS Delivered

Number of successfully delivered SMS messages.

Total SMS Sent

Total outbound SMS messages sent from your account.

Total SMS Failed

Number of SMS messages that failed to send or deliver.

Total SMS Pending

SMS messages that are still awaiting delivery confirmation.

Total SMS Received

Total inbound SMS messages received.

Total Cost

Total messaging cost for the selected period.


Filters

You can filter SMS records using the Advanced Search option.

Available filters include:

  • Date and Time Range

  • Sender Number

  • Receiver Number

  • Status

  • Direction

  • UUID

Applied filters are displayed above the results table and can be removed individually or by clicking Reset.


Available Actions

  • Advanced Search – Apply detailed filters to locate specific SMS records.

  • Download CSV – Export the filtered SMS records as a CSV file.

  • Delete – Delete selected SMS records.

  • Search – Quickly search records displayed in the table.


SMS Record Fields

Field
Description

Sender

Phone number that sent the SMS.

Sender Name

Display name associated with the sender.

Receiver

Destination phone number.

Receiver Name

Name associated with the receiving number, if available.

UUID

Unique identifier assigned to the SMS transaction.

Message

SMS message content. Long messages are truncated in the list view.

Cost

Cost associated with sending the SMS.

Status

Current delivery status of the message (Delivered, Received, Pending, Undeliverable, Failed, etc.).

Direction

Indicates whether the message is Inbound or Outbound.

Date

Date and time when the SMS was processed.

Count

Number of SMS segments used for the message. Long messages may be divided into multiple segments.

Length

Total character count of the message.

Encoding

Character encoding used (for example, GSM-7 or Unicode/UCS-2).

MMS

Indicates whether the message contains multimedia content.

Reply

Allows users to reply directly to the SMS message.


Additional Information

Status Details

The Status field is clickable.

Clicking on a status opens a detailed view containing additional delivery information, including:

  • Server Response Time

  • Forward To

  • Data (Payload)

  • Server Response

  • Other diagnostic information

This information is useful when troubleshooting SMS delivery issues.


MMS Preview

When an SMS contains multimedia content, the MMS column provides a preview option.

Clicking the MMS icon opens a pop-up window displaying:

  • MMS media preview

  • Media URL


Message Content

If the message content is too long to display completely in the table, hovering your mouse over the SMS shows the complete SMS content.


Typical SMS Statuses

  • Delivered – The message was successfully delivered to the recipient.

  • Received – An inbound message received by your system.

  • Pending – The message is waiting for delivery.

  • Undeliverable – The message could not be delivered by the carrier.

  • Failed – The message failed during processing or transmission.


Common Use Cases

  • Monitor inbound and outbound SMS activity.

  • Verify message delivery status.

  • Troubleshoot failed or undeliverable messages.

  • Review MMS attachments.

  • Export SMS records for reporting or compliance.

  • View carrier payload information for delivery diagnostics.
